Before I left for Virginia a while back, a major problem had developed in our house hold.
Miles and the stairs.
We have wood floors and for most dogs this isn't a problem. Miles, however, slips on the floors and prefers to spend most of his time on the rugs I have out for him. He can't avoid the wood staircase we have leading up to our apartment. So for as along as we have been here, Miles has had major problems with climbing the stairs. He slips, he trips, he falls down them, he stops mid way and cries, he won't come up them unless he is assisted and each time he has trouble, it makes his mental condition worse!
This was the situation when I left.
When I arrived back from Virginia, I came home to this:

Mike had taught Miles how to climb the stairs!
With several coaching sessions, he taught Miles how to take the outer-most side of the stairs, go slow, and then take extra care on the turn.
I couldn't believe that Miles was taking the stairs on his own and with ease and grace (OK, maybe not with grace)

  3. I am quite concerned about Miles being in such difficult environments, he hasn't even seen snow yet. I may call doggie protective services, did Mike use pizzles to train him???

yes, we talked about miles and the snow this morning... Miles is very sensitive. perhaps we will get him an indoor grassy area (for the winter)
